Protect your personal information
Don't share sensitive details like your address, place of work or details of your daily routine with people you've just connected with.
Report suspicious or offensive behavior
If someone is threatening, harassing or engaging in inappropriate behavior, use bubbleOut's reporting tools to protect yourself and the community.
Don't send compromising messages
To preserve your safety and privacy, avoid sending compromising photos or messages to people you don't know well. Once sent, you lose control over the content.
Meeting new people is always exciting, but it's essential to remain vigilant when interacting with someone you don't yet know. Whether you're exchanging messages for the first time or meeting someone in person, it's crucial to always put your safety first. While you can't control the actions of others, there are several steps you can take to ensure a safe experience on bubbleOut.
In person
Always choose a well-frequented public place
Choose cafés, bars, restaurants, parks, museums or any other crowded place. Avoid isolated places or private homes for a first encounter.
Arrive and leave on your own
Don't rely on other participants to take you home, even if the event went well. If necessary, ask someone close to you to pick you up after the Event.
Always inform a friend or family member
Give them details of the time, place and nature of the Event. If you're not comfortable going to an Event on your own, you can also go with friends by sharing the link to the Event and making sure the organizer accepts them.
Limit the personal information you share at the outset
Don't be too quick to divulge your address, place of work or other personal details. Take your time to get to know others before sharing more information.
Know your limits
If someone offers you alcohol or drugs, keep control and don't take anything you wouldn't normally consume. If you feel pressured, leave immediately.
Don't leave your drinks or personal belongings unattended
Make sure you always know where your drink comes from, and keep an eye on it at all times. Many substances used in assaults are odorless, colorless and tasteless. Also, always keep your phone, purse, wallet and anything else that contains personal information on you.
Trust your instincts
If something doesn't feel right, listen to your instincts and don't hesitate to leave. You never have to stay in a situation that makes you feel uncomfortable.
